The POM Flying Club can now offer the AOPA Ground
Instructor course.
Completion of this course will enable anyone who holds or has held a PPL
or higher to gain a recognised instructor qualification. They will then
hold a recognised Instructor Certificate to deliver the ground training
syllabus for the JAR PPL or NPPL.
Holding this certificate is now a requirement for anyone (who is not
already a Flying Instructor) who wishes to become a CAA Authorised

Multi-Engine
Rating - The Multi Engine Rating will
entitle the PPL holder to fly in command of
Single Pilot Multi Engine Piston aircraft. The course is undertaken with
the POM Flying Club in conjunction with Triple A Flying using the Beech
Duchess aircraft. The course comprises 6 Hours Flying Training and 7
Hours Ground Training in order to give the candidate a sound theoretical
knowledge of multi engine piston aircraft operation in accordance with
the visual flight rules (VFR), and to teach the skills necessary for the
safe and competent operation of such aircraft. A flight test with a CAA
authorised examiner is taken at the end of the course.
As an addition, the application of the IMC rating can also be added to
the course, or for persons who already have a Multi Engine Rating, the
IMC element can be conducted as a "Stand Alone" course.
Fully inclusive residential courses for PPL
The
POM Flying Group
offer a fully inclusive training course for the
Private Pilot Licence. The package is designed to help you
complete the course and be awarded with your Private Pilots Licence within 4 - 6
weeks. You will be assigned a dedicated flying instructor to help you achieve
this. The price includes all practical flying training, ground school tuition,
hotel accommodation with
transfers to and from the airport.

Solo Flight - Colin Lond
Congratulations to Colin Lond after completing his first Solo Flight at Humberside airport on 22nd November 2009. Colin was the pilot of Piper Warrior G-BPOM and successfully completed one take off, circuit and landing at the airport. He is continuing to train for the PPL Private Pilots Licence with the POM Flying Group.

Rian
Crombie is the latest student from The Pom Flying Club to qualify as a
PPL. Rian started his training with the University Air Squadron, flying in
Grob Tutors, before he moved back to the Cleethorpes area and then decided to
complete his PPL with us. Rian can be seen here with Dave Gibson - CFI &
Examiner with G-BPOM in the Walgate Hangar.

Cross Country Qualifier
Rob Shadlock on his return to Humberside Airport following his Solo Qualifying Cross Country flight on 11/9/2009. The flight required a trip of 150nm (270km) with two full stop landings at two different aerodromes. Under the guidance of Flying Instructor Edward Hawkins, Rob is progressing with flying colours through the flight training syllabus and is now close to completing his PPL (Private Pilots Licence) with The POM Flying Group.
Cross Country Qualifier
Congratulations to Rian Crombie who completed his Qualifying Cross Country flight on Tuesday 18th August. Part of the qualification included two landings away at Peterborough and Retford airports. Rian is currently training with The POM Flying Group for the Private Pilots Licence.

His Grand Father was also a pilot and used to fly Tiger Moths to Hurricanes. Will (19) started learning to fly at age 14 and was awarded with his Private Pilots Licence on Sunday 30 March 2008 after completing his training with The Pom Flying Group. Pom
Flying Group Member Paul Collins has completed the AOPA Aerobatics
course under the expert tuition of national aerobatics competitor and
instructor Cas Smith (pictured left) at Full Sutton. He has been flying
the Slingsby Firefly T67M G-BNSO pictured, and will be competing with
this aircraft in various competitions this summer starting with the
Tiger Trophy at Sherburn-in-Elmett ECGJ airfield on Friday 15th May 2009

Sally Cluley - Britain's youngest qualified pilot!
The POM Flying Club
congratulates Sally Cluley on successfully
completing her PPL
training,
passing her General Flight Skills test on Thursday 28th August after
an intensive four week training course with The POM Flying Club at
Humberside airport. Sally was 17 on 28th September and was issued with her Private Pilots Licence to become the UK’s
youngest Pilot at a special ceremony held in the CAA offices at Gatwick Airport. A member of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets, she is
also a glider pilot at RAF Syerston and has an ambition to train for her
Commercial Licence once she has completed her education. Sally
admitted to feeling "Very good, excited about it as well!"

First Solo Flight! Congratulations to Robert Ashcroft has successfully achieved his first solo flight with the POM Flying Club on Thursday 25th September at Humberside airport.
Twin Engine Instructor Congratulations also to Dave Gibson CFI of The POM Flying Club, who has added a Twin Instructor Rating to his portfolio. Dave is now able to give instruction on twin engine aircraft to anyone who wants to learn through The POM Flying Club.
